Department of Economics

While trying to achieve a harmonious co-existence of the natural environment and human society, Japan faces unprecedented challenges as the world becomes more international and information-oriented, and our society ages rapidly. The Department of Economics equips students with the necessary tools and professional skills needed to face these challenges and propose policies from a global perspective.

Economics becomes a useful tool only when one studies the already established and systematized areas of learning such as theory, history, and policy not passively but consciously and actively. The Department of Economics has a variety of courses that allow students to learn the theories of economic analysis and ways to make use of economic data, as well as related subjects to widen their academic knowledge and nurture their ability to gain a more three-dimensional understanding of our economic society.

The Department of Economics has subjects in the areas of industrial economics, environment and welfare, global economy, and economic analysis to enable students to study systematically and find solutions themselves. The Department puts emphasis on building the students' ability to grasp the reality of the economy of Japan and the world, point out problems, and depict future possibilities.

Department of Management

The environment surrounding business management has changed drastically today. The accelerated pace of technological innovation, the progress of information technology, and internationalization on a global scale prompt us to transform ourselves in this new era. Whether we are able to cope with such dynamic changes in environment and creatively transform non-renewable resources to produce something of value to society depends on how well organizations can function as places for creating new values.

Leaders of the future must have a global perspective and be able to lead and transform organizations to adapt to the changing environment. The Department of Management aims to nurture students with a global perspective who can make full use of different communication tools to obtain a variety of information, and process and transform such information to create new knowledge. The Department seeks to find effective ways of managing organizations which can create values for our society in the new era, and to nurture future leaders who can start up businesses and transform organizations in the 21st century.
