ESG Investment

Chiba Gakuen, the educational corporation that operates Chiba University of Commerce, began ESG investments in May 2018 with the aim of creating a stable source of funds for grant-type scholarships.

ESG investment is an investment that focuses on and selects companies that are considerate of the environment, society, and corporate governance. Since the United Nations called on institutional investors to make responsible investments from an ESG perspective in 2006, ESG investment has attracted attention as a new evaluation item for measuring the investment value of a company.

Under the strong leadership of President, Chiba University of Commerce is taking on initiatives in line with the UN SDGs policy of "protecting the earth while pursuing prosperity," such as working to become a "100% renewable energy university," promoting ethical consumption, and holding special lectures across faculties. In selecting investment strategies, the school corporation also promotes ESG investment as part of its efforts to promote SDGs in educational institutions, and hopes to expand the educational and research environment while contributing to the creation of a sustainable society.
