CUC Open Lecture 2023, No. 3: "Promoting SDGs through collaboration with other sectors using environmentally friendly agriculture (part 1): Fukushima revitalization project through beekeeping (Fukushima S-HART project)"

Chiba University of Commerce is offering the "CUC Open Lectures 2023" as part of its social contribution activities.

Urban beekeeping has been attracting attention as a method for achieving carbon neutrality, combating environmental destruction, and developing the local economy. New measures utilizing urban beekeeping are being sought at regional airports where there is room for improvement in environmental and economic terms.

This course will use the Fukushima S-HART Project, an industry-academia and high school-university collaboration project, as a case study. SHART is an acronym for Sustainable-Honey Airport & Resilient Town, and as of March 31, 2021, the participating organizations are Chiba University of Commerce, Fukushima Prefectural Sukagawa Soeikan High School, Furusapo Co., Ltd., Grancia Sukagawa, Sukagawa Beekeeping Denemon Honey, Ginza Honeybee Project, Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance Co., Ltd., Proceed Co., Ltd., ANA Research Institute Co., Ltd., Fukushima Airport Terminal Co., Ltd., Cultive Co., Ltd., and Daigaku Assistance.

The goal of this project is to build a model for revitalizing local airports through beekeeping. This course will introduce this project from two perspectives: commercialization and beekeeping.
