March and September 2022 | Storage battery equipment will be installed in classrooms that will be used as primary evacuation shelters in the event of a disaster. This will be linked to the rooftop solar power generation system, allowing electricity to be used semi-permanently during power outages, depending on the weather. |
July to December 2022 | The 8th National High School Student Environmental Speech Contest was held for high school students interested in the environment, with two themes: "Natural Energy and Our Future" and "What We Can Do Now for the SDGs." |
July 2022 | The student group SONE held a water sprinkling event on campus to raise awareness of energy conservation. |
July 2022 | The university received the 2030 Climate Action award at the International Green Gown Awards 2022, which is awarded to outstanding ideas from universities around the world aimed at realizing a sustainable society. This is the only award from Japan. |
August-September 2022 | The student group SONE conducted a workshop called "InSONEtion - DIY for a Comfortable Classroom" to install double-glazed windows and insulation on the walls of classrooms. In winter, they compared the surface temperature before and after insulation work and confirmed a 5.3 degree increase. |
September 2022 | Cable damage occurred at the Noda Mega Solar Power Plant. Approximately 2.5% of the power generation was suspended for approximately 66 days. After restoration work was completed, power generation resumed in November. |
February 2023 | Cable damage and theft occurred at the Noda Mega Solar Power Plant. Approximately 15% of the power generation capacity was suspended for approximately 51 days. After restoration work was completed, power generation resumed in April. |
March 2023 | The student group SONE conducted an energy conservation lecture for the Ichikawa City Global Warming Prevention Promotion Council. |
