High school-university collaboration

Financial literacy education at Chiba University of Chiba University of Commerce High School

Due to the revision of the high school curriculum guidelines, "financial literacy education" will become compulsory in all high schools from 2022. The purpose of financial literacy education is to acquire "knowledge and judgment skills regarding finance and economics" in order to live independently in society and create a sustainable society.

Under the "Chiba Gakuen Education Vision," which is the educational philosophy of the entire school, the school has established a seven-year integrated high school-college education system, and a nine-year integrated high school-college-graduate education system, and the new financial literacy education will also be developed in line with this scheme. For this reason, the school signed a comprehensive partnership agreement with the Japan Association of Financial Planners (JAFPA), a non-profit organization, on July 7, 2022.

The Japan FP Association, with which we have signed this partnership agreement, is a prestigious organization that has led the spread of financial literacy in Japan since its founding in 1987 through financial planning awareness, financial and economic education, and training of financial planners. With the signing of this agreement, the following cooperation will be realized for our school's financial literacy education.

  1. Cooperation and advice on classes and lectures at Chiba University of Commerce and its affiliated high schools
  2. Dispatch of association instructors to classes and lectures Chiba University of Commerce and its affiliated high school
  3. Joint development and publication of financial literacy materials for students
  4. Training for financial literacy teachers
  5. Professional Development for High School and University Teachers

At our school, we offer a course called "Financial Literacy x SDGs," where students first learn about the SDGs, which are a societal axis, and then learn about financial literacy, which is an individual axis.
"Financial literacy x SDGs" is a major feature of Chiba Gakuen's education, which is centered around Chiba University of Commerce of Commerce, which has been training business people and managers with high ethical standards. Each and every student at our school contributes to building a sustainable society, which will result in each student planning a truly rich life. This is the kind of financial literacy education we aim to provide.
