<Summary of the lecturer's report
The so-called DX report published by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in 2018 predicted that digital transformation of business operations is necessary, and that if this cannot be achieved, the international competitiveness of Japanese companies will decline, using the shocking expression "the 2025 cliff." Indeed, technological advances are a powerful solution to Japan's current situation, where the labor force continues to decline due to a low birthrate and aging population. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, online meetings and paperless systems have accelerated, and the hurdles for using generative AI, which is being explored for various uses, have also been lowered. From this perspective, it cannot be denied that delays in responding to DX could have a serious impact on companies in the future.
However, the introduction of convenient IT and the environment that relies on it sometimes contain the risk of being caught off guard. Recent news reports have shown that IT-related accidents have had a significant impact on business activities, such as failure to develop and introduce new systems, fraud that goes undetected for a long time and results in the outflow of large amounts of funds, and external attacks. The purpose of this course is to help IT users gain knowledge about the dangers associated with the use of IT by referring to fraud cases and other examples, and to consider the risks that they should be prepared for.
