Case studies of metaverse education and experiments and analysis of major platforms
In the metaverse, you can receive education without the constraints of time or place. For example, it will be possible to take lectures at overseas universities or take classes at night or on holidays, which were previously difficult. Through avatars (characters in virtual space), students in remote locations can take classes and work on assignments together in virtual space. You can also experience time travel in history classes or space travel, which would be difficult in the real world.
Ⅰ. Metaverse Education Case Study
LabStar is the world's largest platform for conducting science experiments on the metaverse. On this platform, users can experience various experiments in laboratories recreated in virtual space. Stanford University is conducting lectures on the metaverse. Students can attend lectures while interacting with lecturers and other students in classrooms recreated in virtual space. Kadokawa Dwango Gakuen N/S High School is conducting classes using the metaverse, where students can take classes in English, programming, and more. In this research, we are currently preparing experiments to use "VR Chat", "Cluster", and "Minecraft Education" in education.
II. Construction of virtual space and development of systems for VR headsets
We are building a virtual space using the game development platform "Unity". The virtual space created with 3D models can be imported into the metaverse platforms "VR Chat" and "Cluster". We have also developed a system in the game development environment "Unity" that allows you to move around and change your viewpoint in the virtual space using a VR headset and controller. This system also includes a function that allows you to project 180-degree stereoscopic live-action images onto the HMD at any time.
