Project Purpose
Currently, 60% of Vietnam's population lives in rural areas, and rural poverty and income disparities are problems. Development of the non-agricultural sector is important for increasing income, and from that perspective, this study focuses on Vietnam's craft villages. Craft villages are concentrated in rural areas in the north of Vietnam, and are villages that have specialized in the production of specific products. However, in recent years, there has been a phenomenon in which craft villages themselves have become tourist destinations. This study also focuses on the Mekong Delta in the south, where research has been sparse until now, and explores the development factors and possibilities of craft villages that are promoting tourism.
