1. Overview of research findings
In 2024, we will be conducting research to transcribe the "Tsudanuma Keikiki" monument, which does not have a modern translation or a modern writing, and to study the training center "Seiseishu" and the "Seiseishu" monument. The training center "Seiseishu" in Tsudanuma was the place that connected Endo Ryukichi and Chiba, and is also the foundation of the Seiseishugi philosophy. Ryukichi Endo Research Center is collecting materials related to "Seiseishu" and is working on reciting, writing down, and translating the "Tsudanuma Keikiki" monument that exists in Mimomi Ogura Park. The current state of the research is that the plain inscription has been transcribed with furigana, written down, and translated into modern Japanese. In the future, we are working to obtain permission from the Narashino City Board of Education to take a rubbing of the surface of the monument. The building of "Seiseishu" itself has been relocated and rebuilt as the main hall in Arai Yakushi, Tokyo. This research is being conducted in parallel with the publication of the document survey report. In addition, visiting researcher Professor Kana Asanuma has published "Sugamo Gakuen Sugamo Higher Commercial School List" as the second issue of "Ryukichi Endo Research Center Document Survey Report". Although "Sugamo Gakuen Sugamo Higher Commercial School List" is short, it is a valuable document that conveys the state of Sugamo Higher Commercial School in the period immediately after its establishment, and its reprint as a document survey report is of great significance. In addition, as stated in the commentary in this issue, the examination of the change in the wording of "Founding Purpose", especially the discussion of the difference between "temperament" and "spirit", is interesting. If the wording was consciously replaced as pointed out in the commentary, it should be evaluated as a glimpse into the change in Endo's thinking. In addition, further research is needed on the location of the school site. As stated above, this reprinting has clarified the direction that should be explored in the future.
