1. Overview of research findings

This two-year study aims to clarify the mechanisms by which companies can implement sustainability and the mechanisms that motivate employees. Specifically, in the first year, we examined the practice of reflecting sustainability performance in executive compensation (social-environmental compensation). The case study company was Omron Corporation. In the second year, we plan to examine the practice of reflecting social-environmental performance in the performance evaluation of business divisions (social-environmental performance evaluation).
The first research outcome of this fiscal year was the presentation of a paper on social and environmental rewards at an overseas academic conference in June. The results are scheduled to be published in the Chiba University of Commerce Review, which will be published in March of this year. The second research outcome is preparatory work for next fiscal year. Corporate interviews were conducted regarding social and environmental performance evaluation. Materials were also collected regarding environmental motivation, which is the ultimate goal.
