Faculty of Service Innovation

In the Faculty of Service Innovation, we aim to nurture individuals who can provide service innovation in response to future needs of the society. Our curriculum is designed around three approaches to learning: "learning from study," "learning from industry," and "learning from activity." We welcome candidates who aspire to grow together with others, making full use of these learning opportunities in collaboration with numerous official supporters in the business world.

Fundamental Qualities for Prospective Students

  1. Vision and Passion
    A keen interest in matters of public concern pertaining to service innovation and a desire to clearly identify personal and academic goals for the future and engage in ongoing study of service innovation
  2. Basic Academic Skills
    Basic knowledge and a capacity for thinking and expression necessary for learning about service innovation, which the candidate has developed in education prior to university
  3. Ability to work with others, with good manners
    The ability to behave appropriately when interacting with various people both within and outside the university and a willingness to collaborate with others responsibly
  4. Ability to Take Action
    The ability to ascertain accurately the actions needed to achieve a goal and then see these through to completion

Admission Assessment Policy

  • Selection by School Recommendation/Comprehensive Selection
    Admission will be determined through comprehensive assessment of an interview and documents submitted as part of the application process, focusing on the candidate's (1) vision and passion, (2) basic academic skills, (3) ability to work with others, with good manners, and (4) ability to take action.
    When applying to this faculty, we recommend that all candidates understand our curriculum, which is designed around the three approaches of "learning from study," "learning from industry," and "learning from activity," and establish specific goals for their studies at university. We also recommend that candidates prepare a detailed account of what they devoted their time and effort to in high school.
  1. Comprehensive Selection
    1-1 General Comprehensive Selection
    • Aptitude Test Category: Emphasis is placed on the result of the aptitude test.
    • Qualifications/Certifications Category: Emphasis is placed on qualifications and certifications which applicants have earned.
    • Activities Category: Emphasis is placed on achievements in extracurricular activities, such as club activities.
    1-2 Comprehensive Selection for Scholarship Students
    Candidates with particularly outstanding grades, who are deemed to have the ability to play active roles as leaders in various fields of learning, will be selected as scholarship students.
    • Presentation Category: Emphasis is placed on the assessment of the presentation.
    • Qualifications/Certifications Category: Emphasis is placed on qualifications and certifications which applicants have earned.
    • Recommendation by a Teacher who has graduated from this University: Emphasis will be placed on a Personal Assessment Form completed by a Teacher who has graduated from this university.
    • Inquiry-Based Learning Category: Emphasis will be placed on an inquiry-based learning report and an oral examination.
    1-3 Culture/Sports Achievement-based Comprehensive Selection
    The candidate will be assessed based on achievements in extracurricular activities, such as cultural and sports clubs, for which a particularly outstanding result was achieved.
  2. Selection by School Recommendation
    2-1 Selection by School Recommendation under the Designated Schools System
    Emphasis will be placed on the Letter of Recommendation from the school principal and a short essay.
    2-2 Selection by School Recommendation under the Open Recruitment System
    • Academic Evaluation Category: Emphasis will be placed on the Letter of Recommendation from the school principal and a short essay.
    • Qualifications/Certifications Category: Weight will be given to the Letter of Recommendation from the school principal and the results of tests and qualifications.
  • General Selection (Individual Examination)/General Selection (Standardized Examination)
    Admission will be determined through a scholastic ability test and assessment of application documents such as the candidate’s school record to assess whether the candidate has the basic academic skills needed to study service innovation. The scholastic ability test comprises a wide range of questions on topics covered in high school and assesses how well the candidates understand what they have learned in high school.
