On February 3rd, Faculty of Service Innovation held the Service Creation Festival 2022, with the aim of providing students with an opportunity to present what they have learned and a place to gain new insights from companies.

The event was streamed on Microsoft Teams and YouTube, and approximately 450 people, including students, parents, business representatives, and faculty and staff, participated online.

In the first part of the event, student presentations and lectures by undergraduate and graduate students were held. For the student presentations, multiple channels were set up within Microsoft Teams, and each "Introduction to Projects" class, each "Project Practice" project, and each seminar gave a presentation on their activities and research results over the past year. Participants moved between channels to listen to the presentations of the groups that interested them.
The lecture for undergraduate students was given by Yuta Kawazu (Class of 2019) from Fujifilm Business Innovation Japan Co., Ltd., and two students acted as moderators, answering questions. Based on his experience in sales, where direct interaction with customers and building trust is important, Mr. Kawazu shared a lot of advice on the importance of communication and how to apply what he learned in the undergraduate program and in the project to the real world.

In the second part, we invited Yang Long (Class of 2015), Managing Director of KADOKAWA Global Marketing, to give a talk on the theme of "How to develop the service creativity necessary for the coming era," in which he talked about the information he started posting on Weibo while still a student, his experience in the advertising industry, and what he is currently conscious of as a Managing Director. Students asked questions such as "Has what you learned as a student been useful in society?", "What do you continue to do to grow?", and "What do you pay attention to in order to promote yourself?" He conveyed the importance of having flexible thinking and a broad perspective, and continuing to take on challenges by placing yourself in an environment where you can grow, making it a meaningful opportunity for the students to think about the image of a working adult who continues to create services.

Student comments

With only a week to prepare, we practiced every day from early in the morning until late at night, including members who had no experience in streaming, in order to improve the quality. The venue was decorated with more spectacular lighting than last year, with background music, subtitles and wipes, making it more enjoyable visually and audio-visually. This time, we worked together with other project members toward the single goal of hosting the event, and focused on doing our best while choosing what to do. I think the experience we gained here will be useful in all sorts of situations in the future.

Yuri Wakabayashi, 3rd year student Faculty of Service Innovation (graduated from Seibudai Chiba High School)

As a facilitator, I paid close attention to each word and imagined the flow of answers to questions so that I could draw out and develop stories that would resonate with the audience from the two graduates who are active in society. We received a lot of positive feedback from the audience, such as "The graduates' stories were very helpful." I believe that the ability to ask questions and communicate well will be important in the future, so I would like to make full use of this experience.
