New support system for higher education

学びたい気持ちを応援します

The new support system for higher education aims to reduce the financial burden so that students do not have to give up on their studies for financial reasons. It is being implemented as an important national educational project so that motivated and capable students can study at universities etc. of their own volition and responsibility.

overview

Our university has been certified as a university that meets the requirements set out in each item of Article 7, Paragraph 2 of the Act on Support for Academic Studies at Universities and Other Institutions (Act No. 8 of 2019) and is therefore eligible for the new national academic support system that will come into effect in April 2020.

By combining tuition fee reductions with grant-type scholarships, you can receive even greater support. Please check the websites of each program for more information.

Recruitment

Applications are accepted twice a year, in April and September.
To apply, you must attend an information session. The information session schedule will be announced in the materials distributed at the time of enrollment and on the CUC PORTAL.

Procedures during the payment period

  1. Eligibility Certification (Household)
The Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) will determine the amount of income and assets required for eligibility certification every summer, in principle by checking local tax information using the Individual Number. The results of the determination will be reflected in the October transfer, so the amount of support (support category) may change or support may be suspended after October.
  2. Eligibility Certification (Academic etc.)
Even after being accepted as a grant scholarship student, the university will check the student's academic performance, learning situation, living conditions, etc., and will regularly report the results (certification) to the Japan Student Services Organization.
Depending on the results of your eligibility (academic, etc.), your scholarship may be abolished or suspended. In some cases, you may be asked to return any scholarships you have already received.
  3. Enrollment Report
Those who are accepted as grant scholarship recipients are required to submit (enter) an "Enrollment Report" through Scholarship Net Personal every April.
