Chiba University of Commerce 's educational philosophy is to practice useful academics that can respond to social trends, that is, education that respects practical learning, to cultivate "chidoka" (people who have high ethical standards and can make decisions and take action from a broad perspective), and to contribute to society. In order to cultivate "chidoka", it is important to accept, respect, and utilize diversity. To achieve this, our university respects human rights and creates an environment that does not produce any discrimination based on gender, disability, race, nationality, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, creed, etc.
Based on this educational philosophy, we have been working to promote diversity, and we declare our intention to further develop this initiative by setting the following basic policies.

Basic Policy

  1. Chiba University of Commerce recognizes that diverse knowledge and rich sensibilities are extremely important in realizing our educational philosophy, and we accept and respect diversity.
  2. Chiba University of Commerce is committed to educating all students, faculty and staff to understand the importance of accepting and respecting different attributes and diverse values.
  3. Chiba University of Commerce actively works to promote diversity within the university and strives to provide an educational, research, and working environment in which all students, faculty, and staff can fully utilize their individuality and capabilities.

Chiba University of Commerce Declaration on the Promotion of Diversity

The Chiba University of Commerce prides itself on providing its students with useful learning so they can respond quickly to the ever-changing needs of society, that is, practical scholarship. Our educational principle is to contribute to society by nurturing individuals with high ethical standards who can make decisions and execute matters from a wide-ranging perspective.

To nurture such individuals, it is important to embrace and respect diversity and put this awareness into real action.

In order to achieve this, the University respects human rights and creates an environment that does not tolerate any discrimination based on gender, disability, race, nationality, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, faith, religion, and so on.

Based on this educational philosophy, we have always strived to promote diversity. We hereby declare to develop this endeavor even further by advocating the following basic policies.

  2. The Chiba University of Commerce will strive to enlighten all students, faculty, and staff so that everyone understands the importance of embracing and respecting different attributes and diverse values.
  3. The Chiba University of Commerce will proactively work towards implementing various diversification measures on campus and create an education, research and work environment that enables all students, faculty, and staff to fully develop their individuality and abilities.

Diversity Promotion

Chiba University of Commerce In today's society, where people work in diverse ways, in order to not only provide support for diverse students, but also to produce students with a diversity perspective into society and promote an environment where each faculty member can fully demonstrate his/her abilities, in December 2019, the Diversity Promotion System Study Project was In January 2021, we launched the Diversity Promotion Committee and Chiba University of Commerce made a Diversity Promotion Declaration as well as developing a promotion system.

We are taking a variety of steps as part of our diversity promotion activities.

Achievements

  • Installation of free sanitary product dispensers (OiTr)
    As a measure to support students, free sanitary product dispensers (OiTr) have been installed on campus.

    [Location] 2 women's private toilets on the 1st floor of Building 1 (The University DINING side), 1 women's private toilet on the 1st floor of Building 3 (in front of the Co-op), 1 women's private toilet on the 2nd floor of Building 3 (in front of PC Room 324), 2 women's private toilets on the 1st floor of the Gymnasium (in front of the training room)

  • Installing vending machines where a portion of sales will be donated
    Vending machines have been installed on campus, with a portion of the proceeds from which can be donated to support LGBT events and the advancement of female researchers.

  • Free distribution of sanitary products
    With the cooperation of Chiba University of Commerce Education Support Association (an association for the parents of current students), sanitary products will be distributed free of charge to students from the fall semester of 2021 to the spring semester of 2023.

Diversity Week

A variety of events are being held for students, faculty and staff on themes such as global issues, gender, disability support and the work environment, as part of a "week to become aware of diversity through 'knowing' and 'experiencing'."
