Chiba University of Commerce promotes education, research, and contribution to society under the basic strategy set out by President.
In terms of education, we aim to cultivate "chidoka," or leaders with a strong sense of ethics who can see the bigger picture, grasp the changes of the times, and solve various social issues. In order to do so, we will put into practice practical learning that will equip students with a strong sense of ethics, a broad education, and specialized knowledge and skills. In terms of research and social contribution, the entire university will work towards creating a sustainable society that is oriented towards the local community through the following four themes.
Starting with this President Project "Aiming to Create a Sustainable Society," our university is promoting educational, research and community contribution activities to broadly cover the goals of the SDGs and contribute to society.
[PJ1] New developments in accounting
We aim to "develop new accounting" that is responsible for accounting and accountability, and respond to the information network society. We will also ensure strict clarification and transparency of the decision-making process, which is the social role of accounting, and explore measures that enable accountability in corporate management and business activities to be fulfilled, and disseminate information about them.
[PJ2] CSR Research and Promotion
CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) is the process of changing a company's behavior to be more environmentally and socially conscious, based on business ethics and policy ethics. In this project, we consider what SR (USR in the case of universities) truly needs in society. We also conduct broad-based assessment research that takes the environment and society into consideration, ESG investment, development of new university ranking indicators from the perspective of social responsibility, and development of ethical goods.
[PJ3] Creating safe and secure cities and regions (Resilience)
Not only will the Konodai district of Ichikawa City, where the university is located, become one of the disaster prevention bases for the Ichikawa and Edogawa regions, but we will also work with neighboring universities and hospitals to form the Konodai Consortium. We will also work with a variety of entities to develop towns that make use of local resources and to form safe regional transportation systems.
[PJ4] Environment and Energy (Sustainability)
We will continue our efforts to become a "100% renewable energy university" by matching the amount of electricity generated by university-owned mega solar power plants with the university's energy consumption. We also aim to become the core of a sustainable, locally distributed energy society by providing support for the establishment and management of energy businesses that contribute to the local community.
Information dissemination within and outside the university
We held the "CUC Open Lecture" to disseminate President 's Project activities to the outside world and to provide a forum for participants to think about and discuss the project. We also published a book summarizing the project activities.
