Our university's "CUC100 (One Hundred) Wine Project" was launched in January 2019. This year, to commemorate the 90th anniversary of Chiba University of Commerce, current students who are project members will attempt to brew the university's original wine produced in Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture, in preparation for the 100th anniversary. Students will raise support for the project's activities and operating costs through crowdfunding.
Through this project, which involves working with local residents to cultivate grapes while sharing solar power on campus, we hope to provide an opportunity to think about the future of agriculture and energy resources, and to create a space for interaction with local residents.
Key Points of the "CUC100 Wine Project"
- Our university is developing four themes, including "Environment and Energy" and "Creating Safe and Secure Cities and Regions," and aims to contribute to the creation of a community-oriented society and the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) as a university. The "President Wine Project" is being carried out as part of the "Environment and Energy" field.
- The management of the fields and farm work will be done not only by students, but also in collaboration with local children, people with disabilities, farmers, and citizens. In addition, collaboration will be used as an opportunity for interaction and a place where information can be exchanged naturally about local issues.
- The old pitching practice field will be used for cultivating vegetables in addition to grapes after soil improvement. The well to be installed will be used not only for growing crops but also as drinking water in the event of a disaster. Solar sharing equipment will also be installed, and the electricity generated will be consumed within the school.
