2018 Hanyang University Summer Overseas Language Training Program Application Guidelines

1. Training Period
August 5th (Sun) to August 25th (Sat), 2018 (21 days) (planned)

2. Training location
Hanyang University (Seoul, Korea)

3. Number of applicants
Approximately 10 people (minimum 1 person)

4. Eligibility
(1) Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate program in the 2018 academic year, in good health, and be proactive and cooperative in all they do.
(2) Those who are interested in the Korean language, culture and history, and have knowledge of Hangeul
(3) Those whose course enrollment status will not affect supplementary classes or re-examinations after August 6

5. Training Costs
Approx. 130,000 yen + airfare approx. 50,000 yen (estimated)

*Training fees may change significantly due to fluctuations in exchange rates.
As of January 15, 2018, 100 won is approximately 10.4 yen
Regarding training costs, We plan to provide subsidies of up to 60,000 yen per person. However, if the number of grant recipients exceeds three, the subsidy amount will be divided by the number of participants. The subsidy will be paid after you have participated in all pre- and post-study training, orientation, report sessions, and other events instructed by International Center, submitted all the documents required by the deadline, and obtained a training completion certificate. If you fail to comply with any of these requirements, you will not receive any subsidy.

<What is included in the training fee> *This is based on the actual results for 2017 and is subject to change.
(1) Tuition: Tuition, textbook fees
(2) Accommodation: Hanyang University dormitory (2 people per room)
(3) Airfare: Economy class (including airport facility fees, local departure taxes, etc.)
(4) Experience classes: Korean Folk Village, B-BOY performance, Korean traditional dance experience, Lotte World

<Not included in the training fee>
(1) Travel procedure fee: Passport acquisition fee
(2) Overseas travel insurance: You must enroll in an overseas travel insurance program designated by the university.
(3) Meal expenses: Approximately 3,000 won per meal at the dormitory cafeteria and 5,000 won per meal at off-campus restaurants.
(4) Transportation expenses: Local transportation expenses and round-trip transportation expenses from your home to the airport (Narita or Haneda)
However, there is a bus from the airport (Incheon or Gimpo) to Hanyang University (depending on the time of day).
(5) Personal expenses: pocket money, telephone charges, etc.

6. Credit Accreditation
Participants in the training will be awarded the designated credits if their training results are recognized through the submission of a training completion certificate (including a report card) and a report.

"Overseas Language Training II"
2 credits each
School of Policy and Information Studies "Overseas Foreign Language Training I" or
"Overseas Foreign Language Training II"
2 credits each
Faculty of Service Innovation "Overseas training" 2 units
Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences "Overseas Cultural Training" 2 units
Faculty of Global Studies No credit transfer

7. Notes
(1) Driving (cars or motorcycles) is not permitted during the training period.
(2) One of the purposes of this training is to learn about Korean culture. Please make sure to prepare thoroughly in advance so that you can understand and adapt to the culture of the place you will be visiting.
(3) If, after being accepted, you fail to submit documents to International Center by the deadline or attend the designated orientation, you will be asked to withdraw from the program.
(4) This training will not be led by faculty or staff of our university. The Hanyang University staff will take care of the necessary procedures on-site. In addition, since this training is jointly conducted with other universities in Japan, please act with the awareness that you are a student of Chiba University of Commerce.
(5) Participants will be required to submit a health certificate. Please make sure you have a health check-up in the spring.

Location: Building 1, Room 1210 (planned)

10. Application Method and Deadline
Please fill out and submit the application form available at International Center (1st floor of the main building). Applicants will be interviewed to determine who will participate.
