Creating excitement in the local area with the "Mama Andon Festival"

The Mama Andon Light-up Planning Executive Committee, made up of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and volunteers from the shopping district near the university, will hold the Mama Andon Festival at Mamayama Koboji Temple in Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture on Sunday, July 23rd. Handmade lanterns by Ichikawa residents will light up the stone steps of Koboji Temple, creating a fantastic atmosphere.

• This new summer light-up event has been planned and run in collaboration between our university and the surrounding community and has been held every year since 2015.
• Students from the Faculty of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences will be participating in the executive committee for this event. The faculty aims to address issues facing the local area, such as revitalization and elderly welfare, by holding a light-up event to liven up the area, while also providing an opportunity for intergenerational interaction among local residents and to deepen their attachment to their hometown.
• Lanterns handmade by Ichikawa citizens will be used to light up the fantastic stone steps, which will be a new attraction for the Mama area. Starting this year, we will be expanding the participants for lantern making from local elementary school students to Ichikawa citizens, with the aim of growing the event from a "local event" to a "citizens' event" and creating even more excitement.

In addition, in 2017, the school was selected to receive the "Challenge Support Scholarship" from Chiba University of Commerce Education Support Association (Parents' Association).
