Chiba Prefecture aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, taking into account the increasing risks of climate change, such as heavy rain and extreme heat, as global warming progresses.

The prefecture has been working to raise awareness of global warming among young people in their 20s and 30s, based on survey results showing that awareness of global warming is low. The prefecture has set a goal of changing this generation's attitudes and behavior toward a carbon-free lifestyle, and has commissioned Toppan Corporation to carry out this project to raise awareness among young people.

The prefecture and Toppan Corporation asked SONE, a student group that conducts energy conservation awareness activities both on and off campus, to plan an event that would encourage young people to take action and make it a personal issue. The kickoff was held at our university on June 12th. Seventeen students participated, and presented their daily activities and ideas that they had thought up in advance. They also received feedback from the prefecture and Toppan Corporation.

Going forward, we plan to propose a concrete plan in the summer with the aim of holding a workshop or event at Eco Messe in Chiba in October.
