外国語スピーチコンテスト

Overall

Time flies, and we've already had three Foreign Language Speech Contests. I'd like to express my sincere gratitude to all the students who participated, as well as the faculty, staff, and local community members who provided their cooperation. This year, in addition to Japanese speeches by international students, we also held an English speech contest for Japanese students for the first time. I was deeply impressed by the high level of each speech and the powerful messages they conveyed.
This contest is not only a forum for exchanging opinions, but also a valuable opportunity to deepen mutual understanding and learn about diversity and inclusion. I believe that through your speeches, each individual will be able to think about intercultural coexistence and express their opinions, which is extremely important in creating a society that respects diversity. I hope to continue to create opportunities like this in the future.
Thank you to all the presenters for your wonderful speeches.

Comment from the winner

I am truly honored to have received this award in the speech contest. Through this speech, I was able to share my thoughts and experiences with many people, and it was also a good opportunity to reconsider multicultural coexistence in Japan. While learning about the differences between Japan and Taiwan, I felt that I wanted to further spread the possibilities of multicultural coexistence. Encouraged by this experience, I would like to continue to convey the importance of intercultural exchange. Thank you very much to everyone who supported me.

TSAI HO CHEN

I decided to participate after seeing the theme of the speech contest, "Intercultural Coexistence in Japan." It's a theme I've thought about and discussed countless times during my four years at university, visiting nine countries for study abroad and travel, and spending time with friends of all nationalities and backgrounds. Presenting the ideas I gained from these experiences in English was both enjoyable and challenging. When explaining the multicultural environment, I focused on examples and expressions that anyone could relate to, rather than just talking about my own feelings. I was extremely pleased to have been able to express the results of my learning by winning the top prize in this English speech contest, and it has further motivated me to continue studying English.

I was very nervous, but participating in this speech contest was a really good experience and it gave me a bit more confidence. Also, listening to the speeches by the international students from Chiba University of Commerce made me want to become as good at Japanese as they were. After the speeches, I had time to interact with the professors and students at the university, which was also a very fulfilling experience for me.
I plan to enter university in April next year, and if I have the chance, I would like to continue to take on new challenges and grow.
