Hinata Maeda, a second-year student in Faculty of Service Innovation, won the Excellence Award at the "NTT East Chiba Business Division Radio Commercial Contest 2024."
This contest is a radio commercial contest for students in Chiba Prefecture, sponsored by the Chiba Division of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation (NTT East Japan). This year, they called for submissions for a 15-second radio commercial script on the theme of the NTT East Japan Group's "purpose (reason for existence)." They received 136 submissions from 100 groups of students attending high schools, vocational schools, junior colleges, universities, etc. in the prefecture.
Maeda worked on this copywriting assignment, a public relations task, in her class "Project Practice 3B (Community Cafe Project)," which led her to apply for this competition.
The winners will record the audio for their own commercials at Bay FM's studio, and the commercials will be broadcast on FM radio station BAYFM throughout February(※).

It was my first time to experience the great responsibility that comes with broadcasting my words to the world on public airwaves. The phrase "Let's take a big step forward" conveys the meaning that "instead of turning a blind eye to current social issues, I want everyone to take a step forward to tackle them as a matter of course." It was difficult to express it in a way that would give hope. I learned that by being creative with the tone and intonation of my voice, I can make my message easier to understand, so I would like to use this in future presentations.
