From July 1st to 4th, we held "CUC ETHICAL DAYS 2025," an event aimed at raising awareness of ethical consumption.

The CUC Ethical Student Club, the Faculty of Service Innovation 's Community Café Project, and the Relaxation Service Project planned and ran various events. Also, on July 1st, all five student cafeterias on campus and the Chinese restaurant "Banraiken," which was taken over by students of our university, participated in an awareness-raising campaign by selling products made with fair trade products.

CUC Ethical Student Club
The theme was "Climate Change x Fair Trade," and fair trade products were sold and introduced while explanations were given about the production background and environmental standards of the products. A film screening was also held to teach about the front lines of climate change. Furthermore, thanks to a call from club members who run the student venture cafeteria "Usagi-nari," all student cafeterias and Banraiken were able to offer menu items using fair trade certified white sesame seeds.

Community Cafe Project
At the outdoor event "ECHOES OF EARTH - If we don't protect the Earth, the stars will disappear from the night sky," fair trade coffee, tea, and dishes made with rice flour developed in collaboration with local stores were sold. A "Fair Trade Chocolate Banana Making" event was also held.

Relaxation Service Project
With the theme of "Lounge in the Sky," we provided fair trade coffee and other items, and created a relaxing space with a mini planetarium made from a camping tent.

Student comments

This year, we wanted many people to actually eat Fairtrade certified products and get a real sense that they too are contributing to producers in developing countries and climate change, so we enlisted the cooperation of all our cafeterias and Banraiken. Until last year, we focused on getting people to understand what Fairtrade is, but we think it was great that we were able to create an opportunity for many people to experience it through eating and purchasing. In the future, we would like to work hard to continue and develop CUC Ethical Days so that nearby elementary, junior high, and high school students can also participate.
