Selected for the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's "Industry-Academia Collaboration Service Management Human Resource Development Project" in 2015 and 2016
The purpose of this project is to build an educational system that develops human resources who can contribute to service creation or service management by learning about real business activities carried out on our campus and creating services together with companies. Students will learn practically about both operational and planning activities in real business.
Specifically, it consists of two programs, "The University HUB & DINING Project" and "Campus Market Project," and provides practical learning about both operational and planning activities in real business.
The University HUB & DINING Project
Students will learn about operations and services from companies that do business at the on-campus cafeteria, "The University DINING," and "The University HUB," which will open in the fall of 2016, and will collaborate with the companies to develop and implement new plans. Students will be divided into three teams - the "Food Service Team," the "Cleaning Service Team," and the "HUB Team" - to create new forms of service from the students' perspective.
- Skills you can learn
Service skills, service creativity, service mindset, service management and marketing skills (goal setting, strategy formulation, communication, organizational structure design, marketing, accounting, information dissemination, etc.)
Food Service Team
In collaboration with Transit General Office Co., Ltd., participants will learn the know-how of commercial facility management through the theme of "The University Dining."
In 2015, the students carried out fieldwork in Kyoto. They visited popular cafeterias and stores at other universities to seek hints for future operations and the development of new services. They also attended a food service seminar at the headquarters of Transit General Office Co., Ltd., and deepened their understanding of the history of the creation of cafeterias and their operations through discussions with the company's producers.
Cleaning Service Team
In cooperation with ALSOK Building Services Co., Ltd., participants will gain experience and understanding of the current state of the cleaning and security industry. Furthermore, they will think about new cleaning services, such as attractive cleaning, and implement this at "The University DINING."
In 2015, we worked with the company to form a cleaning performance team called the "ALSOK Honor Guard," which performed to encourage students to help with the cleanup.
HUB Team
We will work with companies to consider service development at "The University HUB," which is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2016.
In 2015, we collaborated with Ministop Co., Ltd. and Hakuhodo Inc. to conduct fieldwork and seminars at The University HUB with a view to "developing new convenience stores." In addition to conducting on-site surveys of convenience stores around the university, we deepened our understanding of the history and current state of the convenience store market.
Campus Market Project
In collaboration with Shiseido Co., Ltd. and Pia Co., Ltd., students will carry out marketing activities targeting our students and learn how to create services targeted at young people. Through these activities, students will verify the effectiveness and problems of the activities together with companies, and deepen their understanding of marketing techniques and analytical methods in real business settings.
In 2015, this was implemented as a regular course "Project Practice." The results of a survey of undergraduate students were analyzed, and new service proposals were made to each company.
