For about three weeks from August 23rd to September 13th, we held a long-term corporate training course called "Special Lectures (Internship Practice)" (16 sessions in total) in collaboration with Chiba Kogyo Bank Ltd. Seven third-year students participated, learning about business skills, focusing on an overview of banking operations and the basics of presentations to improve proposal skills.

This lecture is part of the "Human resource development through internships and career support" initiative of the partnership agreement concluded with Chiba Kogyo Bank, Ltd. on November 24, 2022. The aim is for students to learn problem-setting and problem-solving methods in business, and through more practical experience, discover their own career possibilities and motivate themselves to study on a daily basis.

In the lecture, the students were given an assignment on the theme of "Product development and sales strategies using local products" from Chibakuru Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Chiba Kogyo Bank whose business objective is to revitalize the local area. Students were divided into two groups, shared ideas, and carried out everything from creating materials to making presentations.
During the final week, with the cooperation of Takusho Kaihatsu Co., Ltd., a business partner of Chiba Kogyo Bank, the students deepened their understanding of corporate consulting work and also tried their hand at planning for YohaS (Night Lotus), an evening art festival held by the company and others. Each student gave a presentation on their own ideas from their own perspective, such as "One of the problems facing Chiba Prefecture is 'bamboo damage.' How about making bamboo lanterns by utilizing bamboo," and "There are few events that children can enjoy at YohaS (Night Lotus), and the surrounding area is crowded. Couldn't we solve this by holding a stamp rally, an experiential activity that children can enjoy?"

Student comments

Since I want to work in the financial industry, I took this course because I thought it would be a valuable opportunity to gain practical work experience. In recent years, banks have been focusing on supporting companies to improve their value, and employees are required to have problem-solving skills, flexible ideas, and logical thinking skills. In the lectures, I struggled with thinking about the goals that companies should aim for based on their issues and prerequisites, and determining targets, feasibility, and verification methods. I felt that being able to gain experience close to the real world would help improve the gap after I get a job. My interest in the course grew even more, and I felt that I wanted to work at a bank and do well.
