The Honors Program 2022 was held from February 6th to 24th (a total of six sessions), with 33 first-year students from various faculties participating.
Our Honors Program is an extracurricular, short-term, intensive, active learning program where students learn idea generation methods from idea professionals and give presentations on problem-solving to companies. This year, we implemented the program for first-year students from all faculties with the cooperation of three companies: ZOZO Inc., Mynavi Inc., and Dentsu Inc. By looking at themselves from various perspectives, they not only have the opportunity to reexamine their own future, but also develop the thinking skills to derive their own answers to problem-solving.
The theme for this year's event was "Plan and propose a series of items that will be a hot topic on ZOZOTOWN, from product planning to sales." The students were divided into eight groups to come up with plans and made presentations to representatives from ZOZO, Inc. on the final day, February 24th.

Taking advantage of the characteristics of Gen Z, such as "love of games" and "love of fashion," the group that came up with the game app "ZOZOPOP," which uses the latest technology to dress up an avatar projected into the air, won the top prize. ZOZO, Inc. praised the app, saying, "It had infinite possibilities," and "It was a service that was well thought out from multiple perspectives, including usability and sales of existing products."

In addition, in overall commentary, the judges commented that "It was a presentation based on fresh information, typical of university students," and "It was clear that you had prepared well, which made me very pleased."

Student comments

We proposed a cutting-edge fashion app that uses Parity Mirror® technology and holograms to allow users to "dress up" an avatar on their smartphone. It was difficult to come up with an idea that was unique and that utilized products sold on ZOZOTOWN. We learned directly from the company about product planning, and when we decided what kind of plan to make, everyone was full of ideas and it got really exciting. We had never participated in a presentation before, so we were nervous, but it was a very valuable experience. We hope to make use of the ideation and presentation we experienced this time in the future.

This time, we targeted "college students" of the same generation and conducted a survey. From there, we decided to propose a plan for an app that combines gaming and fashion, which would be beneficial for both university students and ZOZOTOWN. When creating the presentation materials, our senior tutor advised us that "the ideas within the group may not be conveyed to those who are hearing the presentation for the first time," so we had many discussions and created the presentation materials with the awareness of whether the content of our thoughts would be properly conveyed to companies. At first, we were just a little curious, so we'll give it a try, but I'm very glad that we participated. We would like to continue taking on various challenges in the future.
