If a student's household finances have suddenly changed due to the bankruptcy, accident, illness, death, disaster, etc. of the person who is the breadwinner of the household, and if the student is in urgent need of a scholarship, he/she will be eligible for support if it is confirmed that the requirements are met (the reason for the sudden change in household finances must occur within one year of the application date).
- * The main criteria for admission are academic performance and family finances. In addition, the application process is carried out every year based on these criteria. The condition is that a certain number of credits must be acquired each academic year.
Recruitment period
Applications are accepted twice a year, in April and September. Information about the application process will be provided in the materials distributed at the new student orientation and on the CUC PORTAL.
Loan Period
In principle, the period will be from the start of the loan period to the end of the expected graduation period. However, you must submit a "Scholarship Continuation Application" every December or January. If you neglect to complete the procedure or have poor academic performance, you may lose your scholarship status and your scholarship may be terminated.
Submitting a request for deferment of stay
If you received a loan from the Japan Student Services Organization while you were in high school or university, please submit a "Application for Deferral of Repayment" from Scholarnet Personal. Please note that if you do not submit the application, you will not be considered for deferral of repayment while you are in graduate school.
Scholarship repayment exemption system for particularly outstanding achievements
This is a system that exempts students who have received a Type 1 scholarship at a graduate school from having to repay all or half of the scholarship, and who have been recognized by the Japan Student Services Organization as having made particularly outstanding achievements during the loan period. Recruitment will be announced on CUC PORTAL for students whose Type 1 scholarship loan period ends during the current academic year.
