Able to find solutions from multiple perspectives
Cultivating "human resources with comprehensive policy thinking skills"

総合政策学部長 今井重男

"Synthesis" means connecting individual parts and elements that are captured through analytical thinking, and "policy" means analyzing various problems in modern society and thinking about means and methods for achieving them. Based on these ideas, Faculty of Policy Planning and Management, a combination of these two words, will start in April 2025. One of its features is that it has two departments, Department of Economics and Department of Policy Informatics, which are unparalleled at other universities. In Department of Economics, students learn the "ability to turn what society does not understand into what it does understand" by relying on economics to see how to solve public problems. On the other hand, in Department of Policy Informatics students seek information dissemination and management support for the region (businesses) through policy and information studies, and cultivate the "ability to discover and disseminate the sparkle of the region." Department of Economics students do not only study the subjects offered by their own department, but are also designed to make it easy for students in Department of Economics to take subjects in Department of Policy Informatics Department of Policy Informatics, and vice versa. We aim to cultivate "Chiba University of Commerce comprehensive policy thinking talent" who can find solutions from multiple perspectives by enriching opportunities for cross-disciplinary learning based on students' interests and learning needs.
