Learning together with the local community to contribute to the SDGs

Profile and Achievements
Since its founding in 2014, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences has produced many "social business talents" who are trying to tackle social issues through business and industry-academia-government-private collaboration. From 2025, we will further develop our learning while cherishing the connections we have built so far and the knowledge we have gained through research activities. Now that we are facing a mountain of challenges to achieve the SDGs (international goals for realizing a sustainable society), such as global warming, widening disparities, the decline of local communities, discrimination and human rights violations, we are being asked how to create a good state (well-being) for people, society, and nature and make them sustainable. In the new educational program, with the keyword "well-being of people, society, and nature," we will not only consider visible problems, but also less visible problems hidden in the social structure such as discrimination and exclusion, and cultivate the ability to think about ways to overcome these. The importance of efforts aimed at a sustainable society and earth will not decrease. There is a steady increase in corporate organizations that are looking for "sustainability talents" who understand SDGs and sustainability and can take concrete action. The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences will work together with the local community to nurture talented individuals who will thrive in these corporate organizations.
