Curriculum Policy (Policy for organizing and implementing the curriculum)

In order to develop researchers and highly specialized professionals in the field of policy informatics, our educational goal is to evolve and develop two main competencies (highly specialized abilities: policy competency and communication competency). To achieve this educational goal, we have organized the following curriculum.

  1. We will establish a system to support the acquisition of the ability to efficiently communicate and coordinate with different individuals, organizations, and institutions, as well as the ability to keep up with social trends, and in order to deal with today's complex and multifaceted issues, we will foster the development and creation of transdisciplinary or interdisciplinary "knowledge and methodology" that goes beyond the closed-off specialized individual sciences through problem definition, strategy planning, execution, evaluation, etc.
  2. Students will acquire methodologies for policy informatics from the selection of communication competency courses. Students will also select from the four policy competency clusters (Administration, Environment, Business, and Culture) and focus on courses that best suit their future career path and research theme. These two competency-related courses are conducted through two-way communication between faculty and students, and practical "projects" and "exercises" are arranged as common courses that link the two areas.
  3. Students write their master's thesis while taking into account specific contemporary needs. To this end, they make an interim presentation in their second year and a final presentation before the final exam, with the participation of faculty members who provide advice from multiple and multifaceted perspectives.
