Even if you don't use correct grammar or pronunciation, you should actively seek to communicate in order to convey your thoughts; this proactiveness is what is required of global talent. At Faculty of Global Studies, we provide language education to enhance communication skills.
In the first year, students will focus on speaking, while also honing their overall listening, reading, and writing skills, and will be prepared to put their skills to practical use during their short-term study abroad in the second year. Students will aim to improve their level through language lectures three times a week every quarter.
Students are required to take the Cambridge English Language Test and HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) to objectively assess their language ability. The faculty will cover the cost of the examinations, which are held on campus two or three times a year during the first and second years.
Course Schedule for Students Selecting English
You have studied English for six years in junior high and high school, so there is no way you can't do it. It's not that you can't do it, it's just that you haven't used 100% of your knowledge. You can converse if you make full use of the English vocabulary you use in your daily life. If you can understand, you will want to talk more. Faculty of Global Studies provides many such opportunities.
Course Schedule for Students Choosing Chinese
Chinese is a new language to learn at university. In the first year, students will focus on learning pronunciation, basic grammar and basic vocabulary, but the biggest hurdle is pronunciation. Students will learn pinyin, the phonetic symbols for Chinese, and memorize the correct pronunciation. The key is to practice repeatedly so that students can become familiar with the feel of Chinese words as quickly as possible.
Many students taking Chinese language courses participate in a double degree program in which they can earn degrees from both our university and Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance (China) in four years. In this program, students study abroad at Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance for about one year, and in addition to regular course classes, they also belong to Japan-China Study Institute "Study Course" to acquire the language skills and basic knowledge necessary to obtain a degree.
