Six academic fields that can be used to create services

Students will acquire a wide range of knowledge necessary to create new services and deepen their expertise.
The specialized subjects consist of service creation subjects and academic common subjects.
In the Service Creation course, students can learn service-related theories in a systematic way, dividing them into the stages of [Introduction], [Core], and [Advanced].
Academic common subjects are comprised of five fields: Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, and Information. By studying multiple academic fields, students are able to analyze the same problem in a complex manner from a variety of academic perspectives.

Service is about providing "intangible value" such as convenience, comfort, enjoyment, safety, and security. Learn the knowledge and methods to satisfy customers and create more attractive, valuable services.

marketing

This is an academic field that considers the mechanisms behind selling products and services, such as what is behind hit products and the psychology of consumers. It provides clues to understanding what services are currently in demand.

Business Administration

This is an academic field that studies how to improve the management of companies and organizations. It is useful when considering strategies and business models for creating new services.

Economics

How should we allocate our limited resources and time? We analyze the economic situation, read social trends, and consider what services are needed in society.

Accounting

This is a field that studies how to collect necessary funds, manage them responsibly, and report on them. You will learn the knowledge and theories that are essential for realizing a service as a business.

information

You will learn how to use ICT (Information and Communication Technology) to help run an organization or business. Services using ICT will become increasingly important in the future.

The service industry course group consists of seminar courses and practical courses.

Seminar Subjects

The seminar subjects "Service Company Seminar" and "Service Creation Practice" invite practitioners, mainly from official supporter companies, as guest speakers. In the former, participants will hear specific talks based on their various experiences in the field, deepening their understanding and interest in the actual situation and characteristics of the company and the industry surrounding it. In the latter, participants will learn the basics of service creation through talks about the characteristics of the services actually provided by the company, or the efforts and ingenuity used to increase the utility of those services.
Being exposed to the current state of various industries can be an opportunity to think about your future career path. Also, by learning about many industries, you can understand the current trends in each industry, which can lead to the creation of new services.

Practical Subjects

Through "project practice" and internships, you will use the knowledge you have learned in specialized subjects to proactively consider and act on ways to solve set problems. You can learn a variety of things through the process of achieving your goals.

The specialized subjects consist of service creation subjects and academic common subjects.

Service Creation Course

Theories on services can be studied systematically, divided into introductory, core, and advanced courses. In the introductory course, students will understand the basic concepts of service creation through "Introduction to Service Creation." In the core course, students will use the knowledge learned in the introductory course to gain a foundation in more advanced theories with concrete examples through subjects such as "Service Management Theory" and "Service Marketing Theory." In the advanced course, students will learn the theory of service creation in a practical way, with academic explanations of the characteristics of the travel and leisure, transportation and accommodation, dining out, fashion, bridal, distribution, logistics, information, sports and entertainment, health, finance, accounting, and fitness industries, as well as the latest in service creation.

Academic Common Subjects

It consists of five fields: business administration, marketing, financial accounting, information, and economics, and each field offers subjects divided into "introductory" courses to learn the basics and "core" courses as applied subjects.
Completing a wide range of basic studies required in the real world will broaden the scope of your future career paths. Also, studying multiple academic fields will enable you to analyze the same problem from a variety of academic perspectives in a complex manner. In addition, as befitting Faculty of Service Innovation, the core subjects include sufficient courses on business innovation, consumer behavior, corporate finance, information systems, microeconomics, etc., allowing you to deepen your research by encountering a wide range of academic ideas and real-world problems and exploring knowledge.

Research Subjects

First year

In the first year "Introduction to Research" class, classes are held in groups of around 20 students with the aim of providing an introductory education from high school to university. Students will acquire the skills necessary to study at university, such as the significance and techniques of studying at university, how to make friends, and how to write reports.

Second year onwards

Seminars are a place where the "three learnings" are comprehensively utilized, and are a valuable opportunity for students to grow not only through research, but also through interpersonal relationships with faculty and other students. Students will mobilize all the knowledge they have gained through service industry subjects, specialized subjects, common basic subjects, etc., and will delve deeper into their research themes through communication with their faculty and other students.
