公認会計士試験に現役合格!

I first became interested in bookkeeping when I took a bookkeeping class in my third year at the university's affiliated high school (General Course) and passed the Nissho Bookkeeping Certification Level 3. Because of this, I decided to go on to Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration at our university, which offers a rich environment for learning accounting education.

After entering university, I took the Nissho Bookkeeping Level 2 exam preparation course offered by our university, and passed the Nissho Bookkeeping Level 2 exam. While studying, I also became interested in becoming a certified public accountant, which would allow me to step up as a professional accountant, and I started studying for the qualification in November of my first year. After I decided to become a certified public accountant, I focused on studying with a strong determination to pass the exam in one try. I used social media to refer to the study methods of other test takers and post mock exam results to increase my motivation. At one point I studied 270 hours a month, and I was able to pass the CPA exam two years after starting to study.

While I was studying to pass the first level of the Nissho Bookkeeping Examination, my teacher told me about the appeal of tax accountants, and I decided to become a tax accountant. By taking advantage of the early graduation system at my undergraduate school and going on to graduate school, I was able to complete the work experience period one year earlier than usual.

Focus on study methods, not study times

During my student days, I made the most of my free time and devised the following study methods: 1. Learn the basics, 2. Understand the essential parts such as standards and the purpose of the law without being limited to textbooks, 3. Solve problems that I am weak at regularly, and 4. Read and memorize as much as I can. I also tried to stay motivated by always imagining myself working as a tax accountant in a positive way. My seminar teacher also supported me in various ways, from obtaining qualifications to deciding my career path.

Advice for juniors

Rather than obtaining a qualification, I think it's best to assess your abilities with the goal of "working as a tax accountant" and think about which method will give you the fastest route. There are various ways to become a tax accountant, such as becoming a lawyer or certified public accountant, gaining two years of work experience and passing the exam, or using the graduate school exemption system. The exam is difficult, so the period it takes to take the exam can be long. I recommend taking advantage of the early graduation system like I did, and gaining work experience while working part-time at a tax accountant's office while continuing on to graduate school.
