Traditional Education System
Master's degree students are required to read and understand basic works in their field of specialization as well as top-level books and papers. The graduate school offers thorough education in small classes.
This course employs a traditional education system. The standard period for completion of the master's degree program is two years. Graduate students must earn at least 30 credits in designated courses during their time at the program. Education in the master's degree program is provided through classes in each specialized field and guidance in writing a master's thesis.
In each course, professors teach the academic content of the course and Professor and Professor read and discuss domestic and international specialized books together to cultivate basic academic skills in the research field, and this is called "research." Discussions take place between Professor and students, or among students themselves. Graduate students take systematic, specialized courses with the advice of their Professor in charge of the exercises they have chosen. This course also adopts this type of education system, which aims to develop the intellectual abilities of graduate students.
In addition to taking courses offered in the Economics Course, students will also need to acquire a wide range of knowledge and reconstruct their knowledge. For this reason, graduate students in this course are able to take courses in the Commerce Course, Policy Informatics Course, and Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration.
Classes in which the supervising professor guides students in writing a thesis are called "exercises." The supervising professor respects the students' autonomy and provides thorough and careful guidance on how to write a master's thesis. Deciding on a research topic is the most important aspect of writing a thesis. Through the first year of classes, each graduate student will select a limited topic. Although students are free to choose a topic, it is desirable to choose a topic that interests them, is academically important, has not been researched before, has research materials available, and for which they have the analytical skills to analyze. Usually, in the second year of the master's program, each graduate student will create a research plan and begin writing their master's thesis after receiving approval from the Graduate School Committee.
In this case, it is necessary to thoroughly follow the history of the research, clarify how much is known about the topic, what remains unclear, what one is trying to clarify, and what the significance of the research is. Graduate students will research library materials according to their own topic, create an excerpt book or enter information into a computer, decide on the organization of the paper, and submit an interim report during the seminar class. They will then finalize their thesis with the comments of their supervisor.
