Hiroka Inokuma Seminar (Research on Housing and Urban Development)

Let's find the good places!

Research Themes

Based on case studies of "housing and urban development," we consider ways to improve homes and communities. In doing so, we use sociological methods to examine the cases in detail and consider "who is working, why, how, and what are they aiming for?" We then analyze people's activities, understand the structure, and clarify the requirements. We aim to produce an analysis that can be useful to others in similar situations.

Activities

It combines classroom learning with fieldwork and uses active learning as one of its main methods.

  1. Survey of shopping districts in Ichikawa-Mama and Konodai areas
We conducted a qualitative survey of people in the shopping district and a quantitative survey of our university's students (a full survey of first- to third-year undergraduate students).Based on the survey results, we presented proposals for how our students could connect with the shopping district, and received feedback from local residents.
  2. Finalist of the 21st Real Estate Solutions Fair "Urban Development Hackathon"
We proposed a plan to reduce secondary vacancies in office buildings.

Student Voices

HK-san
In the Inokuma seminar, we focus on issues that arise close to home, such as barrier-free access and regional development, and each student finds a research topic, and grows through repeated research and presentations. By actually visiting and researching Skytree and Tokyo Tower, we were able to broaden our horizons and make many discoveries. There are many activities and interactions with people, so it's a lot of fun.
In addition, Professor Inokuma is very kind and considerate to each student, and is available to give advice. All the students are kind, so it is a warm and reassuring seminar.
