Ethical action for everyone!
Research Themes
The research theme is to consider a sustainable society from the perspective of "food and agriculture." In particular, we will discover and analyze various issues facing modern society from the perspective of "food," which is the most familiar part of our lives, and engage in project management and fieldwork to resolve these issues. We will implement a variety of active learning both inside and outside the university, and deepen our understanding of the nature of a sustainable society through ethical actions (ways of thinking and acting that are kind to the environment, people and society, and the community).
Activities
- Pokopoko Banana Project
The purpose is to make effective use of non-standard fair trade bananas (Balangong bananas from Negros Island, Philippines). In collaboration with the NPO APLA, we will disseminate information on the current state of the production and social environment surrounding bananas, as well as the significance of fair trade. - CUC Food Bank Project
Our main activity is a food pantry that distributes food and daily necessities to students. The items are donated by the NPO Freestyle Ichikawa and the Ichikawa City Social Welfare Council. We also run a food pantry for residents. - Regional collaboration project with Osako Town, Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture
They visit every year during the summer vacation and deepen their ties through experiences such as grape harvesting and shipping, as well as interactions with high school students.
