Research Themes
In this seminar, we will explore the possibilities of ethical tourism (a form of tourism that encourages tourists to behave in a way that is considerate of people, society, and the environment) for the lives and creatures of local communities that make use of local commons such as Satoyama and Satoumi. We will place emphasis on fieldwork and explore measures to solve problems in local communities from the perspective of lifestyle theory.
Activities
Combining literature reading and fieldwork, students will develop their ability to think. Through their involvement in the field, students will hone their own questions and seek answers.
- Regional issues and ethical tourism

If I had to describe Fujii Seminar in one word, it would be "freedom." Students with rich personalities are free to tackle their studies. Even if they seem disorganized, they do it when it's time. That's the atmosphere. They're not overprotective, but I think you can really feel the love from Professor Fujii in this seminar. I think the remote island fieldwork in Fujii Seminar is valuable, something you can't experience in other seminars. In our generation, we participated in a 10km marathon on Izu Oshima. We complained at first, but by the time we finished, we all shared a sense of accomplishment. I think it was precisely because we were in the field of a remote island that we were able to take a look at ourselves.
