Research Themes
Tourism has become an indispensable and important industry in modern society. In particular, Japan is promoting tourism as a core industry of the country based on the "Basic Act for the Promotion of a Tourism Nation." In this seminar, we will delve deeper into the current tourism business so that students can create new services in this field. Specifically, we will investigate and analyze how travel styles change depending on the person, what differences can be seen in the use of tourism businesses, and how companies should utilize these differences and gaps.
Activities
Developing the ability to research and summarize documents and materials
- This course will deepen your theoretical understanding of the current tourism industry. To do so, you will learn what literature and materials you should research and how to summarize the results of your research.
Improving tourism data utilization capabilities
- You will learn how to interpret tourism data in the tourism business and consider how to apply and utilize it.
Acquire basic skills in specific research and analysis
- Specifically, we select one business or company, decide on a theme, and conduct research and analysis.
- Students will acquire the ability to design, conduct, and analyze their own surveys, such as questionnaire surveys and interview surveys, on subjects.
Gain the power of presentation
- By making presentations on the results of research and analysis, students will hone their ability to create presentation materials and communicate in accordance with the theme and content of their presentation.
Starting from the basics, students acquire advanced skills as they progress, and achieve results as a culmination of their studies.
- In the second year, students learn the basics of the above activities, and in the third year they carry out actual research. In the fourth year, students aim to write their graduation thesis, apply for public competitions, and present at academic conferences.
Exposure to the tourism industry
- We will conduct off-campus activities such as visits to tourism industry companies, practical seminars, field trips, and study sessions.
