Let's think about new services that will change society, starting with "marriage"
Theme Introduction
The modern Japanese bridal industry faces a variety of challenges, including an increase in people choosing not to get married, the spread of "unofficial" and "non-wedding" weddings, environmental issues, labor shortages, and gender issues. This project aims to consider future-oriented bridal services that can help solve these issues from the perspective of university students. It also plans and implements events that will make weddings more accessible and enjoyable for university students.
Activities
There are no existing plans for this project. Students are taking the lead in sorting out issues related to marriage and weddings, and then planning an event from scratch that follows the themes that young people currently consider most important. Divided into teams, students are responsible for presenting their proposals, deciding on the event content, managing the budget, public relations activities, arranging the venue, and directing. They are brainstorming ideas to create a compelling and impactful event that breaks the traditional mold.
Student Voices
Ryunosuke Matsumoto, Department Department of Service Innovation
We started this project without the foundation built by our predecessors. Whatever we do, we have to think it through from scratch, and it feels like a tough environment that tests each individual's ability. Rather than giving up because it's difficult, we will tackle it with the attitude of "we'll take on the challenge precisely because it's difficult."
Department of Service Innovation Akira Kondo
The Bridal Services Project is a student-led project that aims to visualize issues in the bridal industry and plan events that can solve them. There will be many first-time initiatives this year, but we hope that through the events we plan, guests will feel closer to weddings.
Department of Service Innovation Kikuchi Yoyo
This year, the Bridal Services Project has been restarted as a new project, replacing its half-yearly project with a full-year one. With this new structure, we plan to take on various challenges to reach even greater heights. We hope to solve modern bridal issues from a new perspective in an unprecedented way, and work to make marriage feel more familiar to young people as well.
Teachers' comments
What I want students to learn
A unique feature of this project is that students can take the initiative in planning it from scratch. Students are expected to use their new ideas and creativity to think outside the box and come up with solutions to current issues related to marriage and weddings, and then put their ideas into action in the form of an event. In addition, by working together with their peers, students will develop their teamwork, sense of responsibility, communication skills, and operational abilities.
Expectations for students
Please take a proactive stance and face current social issues. We hope that young people will come up with new proposals and plans that are not bound by existing frameworks.
