During the year, students will learn about various types of business through the process of realizing their plans, such as various forms of collaboration with the four sports teams, sponsorship sales, and public relations activities centered on SNS. For example, in Chiba University of Commerce University of Commerce Match Day, a title match sponsored by Chiba University of Commerce in official professional baseball and basketball games, various organizations participate as a university-wide initiative, and students from the sports business project are responsible for the overall production and public relations activities. In addition, students themselves will create opportunities to collaborate with each team, and work with various stakeholders, not limited to the four sports teams, to realize their new ideas.
Student Voices

I feel that the Sports Business Project is a project that offers many opportunities to work in collaboration with various companies. In addition, the number of teams that can be collaborated with will increase to four from 2023, increasing the number of opportunities to take on new challenges. This has created an environment that makes it easier to take on various jobs such as operations, sales, and marketing. Furthermore, by coming up with plans together with companies, you can learn about real business that you cannot learn in lectures, and I think that the appeal is that you can put it into practice immediately. I myself joined the Sports Business Project and, as I managed events with companies and project members, I was able to learn about my own challenges and new perspectives that I had not noticed before, and I feel that I am growing every day. I would like to continue learning about sports business, taking on various challenges, and growing even more.

The Sports Business Project is a student-led project that creates plans that will be enjoyed by visitors, mainly those who come to watch games. I think it is appealing that I can learn about sports business in a practical way through this activity. There are many struggles and difficulties as I work on the project while interacting with many stakeholders, but I feel that these challenges are leading to my own growth. I would like to continue challenging myself so that I can make this a project that everyone involved can gain valuable experience from, regardless of whether they like sports or have an interest in sports.
Teachers' comments
What I want students to learn
In working on the sports business project, I would like students to proactively learn and hone their communication skills, including strategic thinking based on academic knowledge, logical and rational thinking that always considers the purpose, and how to conduct meetings and business manners. In addition, I would like students to acquire flexible thinking that is not bound by precedents or fixed ideas, proactiveness to eagerly seek opportunities, and practical skills to accomplish the best possible results under limited conditions through interactions with baseball teams and various companies. On top of that, I would like students to learn the value and characteristics of each sport and develop the ability to view business from various perspectives by comparing and studying the businesses of the professional baseball "NPB", which boasts a long history and is taking on new challenges, the professional basketball "B League", which just started in 2016 but is rapidly gaining popularity by taking on various measures, the professional soccer "J League", and the amateur American football "X League".
Expectations of students
In the Sports Business Project, we are looking for people who are not just sports or event lovers, but who can develop the habit of looking at sports from a business perspective and can speak, act, and put things into practice independently. When working on event production, such as planning and managing within a framework like a match day, we want each person to have a sense of ownership and to challenge themselves to make the most of the learning opportunities they are given. In addition, at the same time as these activities, we want them to continue to challenge themselves to always come up with new services (ideas) and realize them through various ingenuity, without being bound by the existing framework of their activities. We also hope that by looking back on the results of the business they have practiced and the reasons for them, they will gain confidence from their accumulated successes and use the failures that are the result of their full efforts as fuel to grow as individuals.
