Is that common knowledge, really?
Research Themes
The topic of the seminar can be anything. If it has to do with humans, it will definitely be psychology research.
Once you have decided on a topic that you find interesting, you will research it and deepen your understanding by conducting several experiments, surveys, and presentations.
Here are some examples of topics that come to mind: "Science is correct," "Blood type and personality," "The media is powerful," "Rumors are lies," "Psychic phenomena," "Aliens," "Psychic powers," "Dream interpretation," "Curses," "Fortune telling," "Religion," "Counseling," "Sleep paralysis," "The value of money," "The meaning of words," "How time passes"... It may also be important to have an attitude of doubt about such frameworks.
Activities
"Common sense" is necessary to live in this world. However, common sense is not always correct. If you rely on common sense, you may not be able to see the truth. In other words, common sense should be used when necessary, and it is better to ignore it when it is not necessary.
So in this seminar, we will think about whether what many people think is "obvious" or "common sense" is really correct, or whether what many people think is "impossible" or "definitely a lie" is really wrong. There may not be a conclusion for many problems. But by questioning common sense for a moment, you should be able to gain a lot of realizations. ...And this can be a lot of fun.
Student Voices
Department of Commerce Sato Ayumi
In the Sagara seminar, students are able to research whatever interests or fascinates them, so each student's research topic is uniquely interesting.
Because the research topic is free, students may feel lost and stuck, but since third and fourth year students participate in seminar activities together, they can rely on and consult with others. By making the most of their individuality and cooperating and helping each other, students can experience the fun and appeal of other research, and at the same time, they can expand their own knowledge through these activities.
