Yusuke Sekiguchi Seminar (Biological Science Research)

Anything goes, any problem

Research Themes

There are tens of millions of species of living organisms on Earth. Each organism sometimes competes with, and sometimes cooperates with, organisms of the same or different species. Humans are also able to exist through interactions with many other organisms. To gain a deeper understanding of this, students will study and research the mechanisms of organisms and their origins. Each seminar student has their own research theme, and proceeds with the task of accumulating data by conducting their own observations and experiments.

Activities

  • I tried to make beer to learn about fermentation. (Failed)
  • We grew vegetables in a planter to verify plant growth and fertilization. (They were damaged by crows just before harvesting.)

Student Voices

Department of Commerce Miki Koyama
When you hear "biology," you might imagine a dark and serious image, but that's not the case at all. The seniors are very kind and the weekly classes are fun.

Department of Economics Yuhei Goto
Sekiguchi's seminar is a biology seminar. We do SPI problems at the beginning of the class, and in the second half, the students in charge give a presentation. The teacher teaches us how to give presentations that will be useful even after we start working, so we are gradually improving.
