Achieving the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) through management!
Research Themes
All kinds of products and services necessary for our daily lives are provided through companies. Today's society cannot survive without the economic activities of companies.
In the past, the main criterion for evaluating a company was whether it was profitable. Products and services were taken into consideration next, and together with media coverage, a company's image was formed. But what about companies where there is employment discrimination against women, or where working conditions are exhausting for employees due to long hours? Companies that hide information about environmental pollution or cause pollution cannot be called "excellent" companies, even if they are highly profitable. Furthermore, corporate scandals have occurred repeatedly, and each time they occur, there are calls for reflection and thorough corporate ethics. The ethics of management and employees are important, but are there problems with the corporate structure itself?
After graduating from university, you will become a member of the corporate world, and it is essential that you have a set of criteria for judging "excellent" companies and management, both for yourself and for society. We ask you to research original "excellent" companies and management that cannot be found in company guides.
Activities
You will learn a wide range of skills, including how to read the Nihon Keizai Shimbun, how to collect literature, how to read literature, how to create a resume, how to work in groups, how to make presentations, and how to discuss.
After that, we will set criteria for judging "excellent" companies and management and proceed with our research from the perspectives of "What is a company?", "New corporate evaluation criteria", "Corporate evaluation criteria from the employee's perspective", "Corporate evaluation criteria from the shareholder's perspective", "Corporate information disclosure, environmental measures, and social contribution", etc. Research results will be presented at exchange meetings (presentation competitions) with other universities and at in-house seminar competitions.
In parallel with the above research topic, I will also be working on the sub-project "University Ranking Considering the Environment and Society" of President Project 2. I will also be active in events both on and off campus, such as public lectures, Ecomesse Chiba, and the Mizuho Festival.
Through various activities, you will develop the ability to analyze things from multiple perspectives.
