Hiroshi Deguchi Seminar (Utilizing physical bookkeeping and production accounting - Establishing an accounting framework for the disclosure and audit of non-financial information for ESG management)

We are looking for students who have a strong will to "collect information and take action on their own" in order to create a reality in society that does not yet exist. Knowledge has no boundaries!

Research Themes

Deguchi Seminar is run based on three systems: management systems, accounting systems, and information systems, and the "systems thinking" that ties them together.
The first is wisdom about the management of various organizations, with a particular focus on ESG management. The second is wisdom about new accounting systems based on physical bookkeeping. We are pioneering the new field of production accounting using physical bookkeeping, which enables accounting measurement and auditing of non-financial information, which will become increasingly important in the future. The last is wisdom about information systems, which form the foundation for management and accounting.
What ties these together is the wisdom of the perspective of "systems thinking"!

Activities

The seminar will focus on the activities listed below, but we would like to continue with activities that will help improve your skills, regardless of the activities listed below.

  1. We will hold a round-table discussion on books and papers that are important for graduation thesis research (a person will be appointed to prepare and present a resume, which will then be discussed by everyone).
  2. Students will decide on a research theme, conduct research individually or in teams, and present the results.
  3. In the seminar, we actively encourage students to obtain qualifications. Aim to obtain the Nissho Bookkeeping Level 2 or above, IT Passport, or Statistics Certification Level 3!
  4. The COVID-19 pandemic has not yet subsided, and many activities will likely be conducted online. Take this opportunity to acquire information skills for various online activities. You will need Zoom, a Google account (using Forms), and a Slack account (all free).
