Kosei Matsushita Seminar (Creating new businesses in small and medium-sized manufacturing and small-medium-sized enterprises)

Learn from the efforts of our predecessors in responding to changes in the business environment and discover business opportunities.

Research Themes

The importance of small and medium-sized enterprises has been pointed out not only in Japan but also in other countries. Among them, new product development and continuous QCD improvement (high quality, low cost, short delivery time) have been pointed out for a long time. However, with limited management resources, there is limited room for business creation.
In this seminar, students will accumulate information by reading basic prior materials and studying successful and ongoing cases. The purpose of these efforts is to acquire the ability to write chapters in a thesis and to complete their graduation research.

Activities

The course will consist of a series of resume and report assignments designed to allow for the gathering of relevant information and consideration of one of the following themes:

  • A study focusing on small and medium-sized manufacturing companies.
  • Creation of new businesses or launch of new products in existing small and medium-sized enterprises.

Based on this, students will continue to train in creating materials that will contribute to their own interpretations and proposals by incorporating previous research, including theory, and primary sources, and will ultimately compile this into their graduation research.
