Turning my love for travel into work

I've traveled abroad with my family every year since I was one year old, and I love traveling, so I wanted to work in a job related to travel. I mainly applied to travel agencies, but there are many different types of travel agencies. What kind of travel do they offer? What regions do they specialize in? I did thorough research on the companies, and then I applied to the ones I thought would suit me.

I decided to join HIS because I was attracted to the company's commitment to being "number one, only one" and its corporate culture of proactively taking on new challenges. I was also attracted to the fact that the company not only operates in the travel industry, but also in hotel and theme park businesses, and that I could gain a wide range of experience through its internal recruitment system.

Obtained two national qualifications by taking courses on campus while still a student

As I wanted to work in the travel industry, I aimed to obtain qualifications that would definitely give me an advantage in my job search. Our university offers courses to help you obtain qualifications, and in my third year I took a prep course for the "Domestic Travel Business Manager" qualification. I studied every day at Library and at home for the four months I took the course, and was able to pass the exam. After that, I also attended a prep school on my own and obtained the "Domestic Itinerary Leader" qualification. Studying was difficult, but it was also great that I made friends through the course who were also hoping to work in the travel industry, and was able to exchange information and talk about my concerns.

After obtaining the qualification, I was introduced by my instructor to a part-time job as a tour conductor for tourists visiting Japan. There are times when we get caught in traffic jams during the tour and things don't go as planned, or when customers make unexpected requests, but it makes me really happy when they say at the end, "Today's tour was great."

It was because of this experience as a tour conductor that I became convinced that the travel industry was right for me. Even after I enter the workforce, I would like to use this experience from my part-time job to be able to provide travel that exceeds customers' expectations. I also want to obtain the qualifications of "Comprehensive Travel Business Manager" and "Property Insurance Agent."

Classes that were helpful in job hunting

"Introduction to International Liberal Arts I (General Overview)", "International Liberal Arts I (Knowing Japan)", "International Liberal Arts IV (Knowing the World)" Omnibus format

The lectures given by professors with specialized knowledge influenced my way of thinking and perspective, and I made new discoveries. I believe that the broad knowledge I gained through these classes will be a foundation for me not only in my job search, but also when I enter society and interact with various people both in Japan and abroad.
