Rediscovering my hometown
Focusing on the fact that black bass contain nutrients that are effective in preventing obesity, we are planning a nature experience learning program that will kill two birds with one stone by eating black bass, whose reproduction in Lake Inawashiro is a problem, thereby eradicating invasive species and solving the increase in metabolic syndrome.
Ways to revitalize the local area
While black bass threaten the ecosystem of Lake Inawashiro, they can be delicious when cooked properly, and they are known to contain nutrients that are effective in relieving metabolic syndrome and preventing obesity. Therefore, a nature experience learning event will be held at Lake Inawashiro during the summer vacation for elementary school students in Fukushima Prefecture, where the obesity rate has been increasing since the Great East Japan Earthquake, killing two birds with one stone by allowing them to both exterminate black bass and lose weight.
Nature experience learning plan
- Parents and children work together to burn calories by fishing for black bass.
- The black bass we caught was cooked at the campsite and made into a meunière.
- Parents and children eat the food they have prepared while looking out at the lake.
- At the end of the event, there will be a lecture on why black bass were used and the nature of Inawashiro Town, and participants will then be able to learn about the natural environment while taking a walk around the surrounding area and working up a sweat.
It is also expected that this event will provide an opportunity for the high school students who are organizing it and local residents to think seriously about Lake Inawashiro's ecosystem.

Comments and points regarding the award
I commend the author for turning one of the problems facing Lake Inawashiro, the black bass, into an ecosystem threat, and coming up with a business plan that makes the most of it. I also found the idea of eating black bass to be an interesting way to prevent metabolic syndrome to be a fascinating perspective. Furthermore, by combining this with the fact that the rate of metabolic syndrome among elementary school students in Fukushima Prefecture is high, I found the title striking and appealing, as it kills two birds with one stone.
However, nature experience learning for elementary school students is a one-time event, and unless it is continued, it will not improve metabolic syndrome. Also, since it is a business plan, I was left with the question of how this event would be financially viable. It would have been better if you had briefly explained this point.
Despite these challenges, the presentation was structured in a way that was easy to understand, and I think it was an excellent presentation.
