Rediscovering my hometown

Nagoya Cochin originated in Komaki City, Aichi Prefecture, but it is not well known, and I think that many tourists from outside the prefecture eat Nagoya Cochin in Nagoya City. Therefore, we will hold a Nagoya Cochin Festa at Komakiyama in Komaki City to spread awareness that Nagoya Cochin originated in Komaki, and to lead to the revitalization of Komaki City.

Ways to revitalize the local area

The Nagoya Cochin Festa is held in spring, summer, and winter. Every year, the cherry blossoms on Mount Komaki bloom in full, so in spring, visitors can enjoy Nagoya Cochin food stalls while viewing the cherry blossoms. In summer, families on their summer vacation and visitors from overseas are expected to visit, and in winter, food stalls are set up selling warming Nagoya Cochin soup dishes.
The menu includes hot pot dishes, for example. If you eat it as mizutaki hot pot, you can really taste the umami of Nagoya Cochin because of its simple flavor, and if you make it as miso hot pot, it goes perfectly with Nagoya Cochin. Also, combining Nagoya Cochin with Aichi Prefecture's specialty miso, they will offer Nagoya Cochin miso stew, miso stew udon, and since Nagoya Cochin is also famous for its chicken wings, they will also be selling Nagoya Cochin chicken wings. They will also be offering oyakodon (chicken and egg rice bowls), pudding, and French toast made with Nagoya Cochin eggs. By having these dishes offered by highly acclaimed restaurants and confectionery shops in Komaki City, they aim to raise awareness of the restaurant names.
Other measures to attract customers include displaying posters at stations and distributing store coupons exclusively to visitors.
Ideas for the food stalls were solicited online from housewives and citizens living in Komaki City, and volunteers were recruited from junior and senior high schools to staff the event, with the citizens of Komaki City working together to create the festival. They also hope to create a Nagoya Cochin Festa account on social media and upload photos of the bustling event to spread the word.

Comments and points regarding the award

This is a wonderful proposal that conveys the pride and local love that Komaki City is the birthplace of Nagoya Cochin. Holding a festival to revitalize Komaki City with Nagoya Cochin is a great idea, as it is expected to attract many visitors at once. The use of Tabelog scores to provide objectivity in selecting the restaurants participating in the festival, and the selection of delicious restaurants, is a modern and commendable idea. The introduction of restaurants likely to be popular with women and children raises expectations that the festival may target a wide range of demographics. The promotional activities using posters and social media, as well as the distribution of coupons that will likely lead to an increase in repeat visitors, are excellent ideas.
What impressed me most about the presentation was the correct pronunciation and clear voice of the presenter. I think the content of the explanation was carefully considered so that the message could be fully understood.
One thing I wish they had thought about a little more is that, although I have no objection to holding a festival mainly for the citizens of Komaki City, I think it would be better to get cooperation from neighboring municipalities as well, as this would make for a larger festival with more potential to attract visitors. I am concerned that if it is held only by the citizens of Komaki City and related organizations, it may end up being small-scale, like the city's cultural festival.
