Experience the wonders of nature and develop an environmental mindset!
Research Themes
We conduct research and studies on themes related to "water," which is essential to our lives.
For example, students are free to think about and work on themes for their graduation thesis, ranging from familiar to global, such as "Conservation of springs in Ichikawa City and resident awareness," "Narita's history, culture and groundwater," "The impact of climate change (global warming) on nearby springs," and "The role of Japanese companies in solving global water issues."
Activities
In the seminars for second and third year students, in order to learn basic knowledge and data analysis methods related to the "water environment," the content and meeting places change rapidly, with outdoor survey training, data analysis training in the computer lab, and water quality analysis in the laboratory. The results of the training are compiled into reports, and each student makes a presentation and has a discussion with the entire group.
In 2013 and 2015, I gave poster presentations at academic conferences and received awards.
Since 2018, we have been working on nature restoration activities at Junsai Pond, located near the university.
Student Voices
Department of Economics Ryota Takahashi
This seminar does not just take place in the classroom, but also involves very specialized activities such as actually going to springs, collecting water samples, and investigating the water quality. Everyone is a beginner at first, but if you have a strong interest in water, you can enjoy the seminar.
Department of Business Administration
I was able to learn about the local environment, and since the topic started with something as familiar as "water," I was able to follow the content. I also think that being able to go on fieldwork and to museums is an attraction of the seminar. The atmosphere in the seminar is very homey, but it can also be a bit strict, so it's a well-balanced seminar.
