Let's learn about the history of the economy through the history of things that are familiar to us, such as music, movies, and fashion!
Research Themes
We are all surrounded by various things in our daily lives. All of the things and events that exist around us in our daily lives have their own story behind how they came into being and how they became widespread.
In this seminar, we will unravel the economic background behind the various things and events you come into contact with in your daily life, and how they spread widely throughout the world, through the analysis of various materials. Ultimately, we will come to understand the history of how the modern economic system was created.
Activities
In this seminar, we place great importance on the autonomy of our students. In the seminar, each student is asked to give a fun and unique presentation of what they have researched and learned. First, students choose a country or region that interests them, and then focus on the industry or field there to decide what they would like to analyze. They then explore and pursue what approaches are possible from the academic perspective of economic history, and conduct their own investigations using public materials and other sources. Then, each student is asked to give a presentation on what they have learned.
